I am reproducing the last two paragraphs from Raymond Ibrahim’s fundamental book Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians (Amazon USA), (Amazon UK ):
The return of the persecution of Christians under Islam is the most visible aspect of a larger and more dangerous phenomenon: the return of Islam as a global force. The West ignores those being crucified again at its own peril — bringing to memory the words of German pastor Martin Niemoller, who came to understand — but only after being sent to a concentration camp during World War II — what it meant to face a totalitarian ideology hostile to all who reject it:It may seem relatively peaceful now in Western countries, and we all have a natural tendency to avoid facing problems if we possibly can.
First they [the Nazis] came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the socialists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.
What happens to Christians at the hand of Muslims (the massacres of villages, burning of churches, beheadings, climate of constant fear) in remote parts of the world - even assuming that we somehow got to know about it amidst the silence and dissembling of our media and leaders - doesn't touch us, we think, so we prefer not to be troubled by it.
Even when something closer to home occurs, like the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby by a Muslim jihadist in a London street, or the use of British white girls by Muslim paedophile and sex slave rings, we continue to believe that these incidents are not part of a major trend, and we keep sleeping serenely.
But history has repeatedly shown that we should take the first hints because, if we wait for the macroscopic signs, they may be easily recognisable for a reason: the problem has become so big that we can no longer address it without violence and tragedy.
Enza, what we are mutely watching here is the death of western civilisation. That civilisation is based on Christianity, root and branch. Our thinking, our morality, our art, our economy all derive from the Chistian God and the moral code which his divinity anchored among us. (Like you - I think this is right? - I am not a believer, but these are indisputable historical facts.)
ReplyDeleteTo sit in silence, as we are doing, as Christians are slaughtered around the world, means that our civilisation is dead. I see very few signs that it can resurrect (and I use the word advisedly) itself.
Yes, you are right, I am not a believer, although I have started to find the idea of God as an explanation of the universe's existence much more reasonable and likely than chance, as scientific progress seems to increasingly attest.
DeleteBut belief in God, as you rightly say, is not at all necessary to recognise the historical truth of Western civilisation being non-existent without Christianity.
I'm still optimistic, however, that we can reverse this terrible trend towards nihilism, atheism and even paganism set in motion by the Left. There are more and more people, now, recognising that all this cannot go on without our own destruction, first of all at the hands of Islam, which would not have been allowed to dominate us if the atheist Left had not opened the doors of the West to it.
Western leaders have an all-consuming HATE for God and Christians and colonized Britain and Europe with many millions of Mohammedans! Population replacement forbidden by international law! Conquest by demographics to create Muslim rule and our cruel enslavement under vile woman-hater, barbaric sharia law!
ReplyDeleteQuran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers."
Our evil leaders bar entry of Christians!
Massive numbers of Muslims who are NOT persecuted claim asylum; invading Europe and the U.K. But it is persecuted non-Muslims who endure horrific suffering in Muslim countries who urgently need asylum!
Qur'an:8:12 "I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle."
U.S. British and European leaders are radically pro-Islam. Rabidly anti-Jew, and rabidly ANTI-CHRISTIAN:
gatestoneinstitute:
It was revealed that “Christians are being refused refugee status [in the U.S.] and face persecution and many times certain death for their religious beliefs under [Islamic] Sharia [law], while whole Muslim communities are entering the U.S. by the tens of thousands per month despite the fact that they face no religious persecution.” http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/2676/muslim-persecution-of-christians-november-2011

http://voiceofthepersecuted.wordpress.comChristian Syrian Refugees Denied Visas to West. Christian Syrian refugees have found temporary shelter in Jordan, but their immigration requests have been rejected by Western countries. Some of them have spoken to the Associated Press, but want to remain anonymous for safety reasons.
One Syrian refugee said, “Everyone sold whatever they owned in Syria in order to get here, so that we could apply for visas at an embassy. We
were all surprised to be rejected.”
